BRIDGE

Our Focus

Connecting academia with industry

The Cooperative Master’s model is designed to bridge the gap between academic training and real industry needs. Students spend the first part of the program developing strong theoretical foundations in data science, mathematics, and computational methods through courses taught by leading international faculty. They then apply these skills during a structured six-month industry internship, working directly with organizations on real projects. This model ensures that academic learning remains grounded in practical challenges, while industry partners gain access to talent trained to translate advanced analytical methods into solutions that create real impact.

Internships

Tomorrow's thought leaders at a shared cost

A six-month, full-time, project-based placement, aligned with your organizational priorities. Internships can be on-site, hybrid, or remote, and are fully supported by academic supervisors and monitoring tutors to ensure delivery and impact.

Each intern is supported through a shared-cost model, where AIMS contributes significantly to the cost of the internship. This allows organizations to access advanced mathematical science skills at a predictable, affordable contribution, while supporting high-quality training and talent development.

"Working with an AIMS intern in our team was a standout experience. Their strong analytical foundation, combined with real eagerness to learn and contribute, made an immediate impact. Their ability to tackle complex data challenges with creativity and confidence speaks volumes about the quality of training AIMS provides.”

Our pillars

Principles that guide us

Advanced Science

Our interns are rigorously trained in mathematical modeling, data science, machine learning, and quantitative analysis. They bring cutting-edge analytical thinking directly into your organization, transforming complex data, uncertainty, and risk into structured insight.

Practical Solutions

AIMS internships are built around real organizational challenges. Over six months, interns apply advanced analytical expertise to develop tools, models, dashboards, optimization strategies, and research outputs that directly support your operational and strategic priorities. This is not observational training, it is structured, hands-on problem solving designed to deliver tangible results.

Shared Value

A partnership with AIMS creates value that extends beyond a single internship project. Your organization gains access to a pipeline of highly trained, quantitative talent while contributing to the development of the continent’s next generation of analytical leaders. The result is mutual growth, strengthened internal capacity and measurable impact for you, and meaningful, industry-relevant experience for our students.

Our Cooperative Education Model

Academic Excellence Meets Practical Impact

The AIMS Cooperative Master’s model combines rigorous postgraduate training in the mathematical sciences with six months of structured internships embedded within partner organizations. Projects are built around co-designed problem statements aligned with organizational priorities, ensuring students contribute directly to operational, analytical, and strategic challenges under joint supervision from AIMS and the partner organization. The program is broken down into four phases

Course Work Phase

October - May

In this phase, students dive deep into core concepts, taking specialized courses in their field—whether it’s data science or mathematical epidemiology. Guided by world-class lecturers, they build a strong theoretical foundation in statistics, modeling, and computational methods.

Research Phase

March - June

Next, students embark on a full research project, applying what they've learned to tackle a complex problem. Working closely with mentors, they conduct original analysis, developing insights that deepen their academic expertise.

Internship Bootcamp

July

Before stepping into industry, students prepare with a tailored bootcamp. They engage in real-world case studies from their future industries, gaining practical skills in business management, problem-solving, and leadership—preparing them to add immediate value.

Internships

August - February

Finally, students step into their six-month industry internships, embedded in organizations where they drive high-level priorities. They translate their research, technical skills, and business acumen into tangible impact for the organization’s strategic goals.
